By ignoring Instagram, I am creating photos to please myself, instead of my audience.
The decision to not use Instagram may seem unconventional in today's society, where social media platforms dominate the way we communicate and share our lives. However, for me, the choice to stay away from Instagram is a deliberate one, driven by a desire to maintain my mental and emotional well-being.
One of the main reasons why I don’t use Instagram is that it serves as a major distraction in my life. Instead of focusing on meaningful activities and connecting with people in real life, I found myself constantly scrolling through my feed, comparing my life to the curated, filtered versions of others. I don't want to spend my time and energy obsessing over analytics and audience engagement. I want to create real value and meaningful connections, rather than chasing after validation from strangers on the internet.
The psychological impact of social media, particularly Instagram, cannot be overlooked. The constant need for external validation and the fear of missing out on the seemingly perfect lives of others can take a toll on one's self-esteem and overall well-being. By abstaining from Instagram, I am able to protect myself from these negative influences and focus on cultivating genuine self-worth from within.
Moreover, I am wary of the intrusive nature of social media and the potential privacy concerns that come with using platforms like Instagram. The collection of personal data and the bombardment of advertisements further solidify my decision to stay away from being a social media slave.
